Center Drive School is fortunate to be able to participate in the Dirigo Reads literacy program. This Maine based program has committed to putting free age-appropriate books in the hands of first graders across the state. Dirigo Reads is currently partnered with 136 schools across all sixteen counties.
From their website, Dirigo Reads believes that "strong literacy skills shape a child’s future, influencing academic success, self-confidence, long-term health, and career opportunities.” This program is made possible through financial support from community partners, such as Machias Savings Bank, Bangor Savings Bank, and United Way of Eastern Maine.

Thank you, to Dan Cashman and Dirigo Reads, for being part of our literacy journey!
