The Maine Women’s Lobby Education Fund hosted Girls’ Day at the State House, now in its 30th year, working to open the doors of the State House to young women.
This program connects 8th-grade girls to policy, politics, and the legislative process. Dedham School was represented this year by Belle Goupe and Ella Madden.
Through online sessions and a full day at the State House in Augusta, students learned how a bill becomes law, heard directly from elected officials, policy professionals, activists, and organizers, and connected with their peers from across the state.
The 2026 Girls’ Day at the State House program was held in March, with weekly Zoom meetings on Monday afternoons and the in-person day was on Friday, March 20, 2026.
